Wednesday's Names

GIRLS

Aethelburh- Anglo-Saxon. This was a medieval princess who married King Edwin for whom Edinburgh, Scotland is named. She was also called Tate or Tata. Aethelburga is another form of her name (plus alternate spellings like Ethelburh or Ethelburga.) Her father's  name was Aethelberht so it seems she was named for her father.

Jabrielle - There were 5 little girls named this in 2012 according to the U.S. Social Security Administration.

Ricole - Anglo-Saxon. This was the aunt of Aethelburh and sister to Aethelberht. She was mother of Saeberht, king of the East Saxons.

BOYS

Aethelberht - Anglo-Saxon

Sepp - There were 5 boys named this in 2012 according to the U.S. Social Security Administration. I don't really know where it comes from, except that when I typed it into the label box for this post, the editor wanted to insert Giuseppe, so maybe it is a nickname for Giuseppe? That is the Italian form of Joseph, which comes from Hebrew and means "he will add".

Saeberht- Anglo-Saxon
