In 2014 I featured a series of blog posts introducing you to 2,014 names. For the most part they were names that were brand new to me as well. Some names may be more familiar but I found the meaning or origin or some other aspect of the name made it worthy of inclusion here. You may love some of the names, you may hate some, but hopefully you enjoy learning about all of them.

Guy Berryman

So, now I know the name of the guy in Coldplay who I think is cute. I think Guy is kind of a strange name to have, but he's British, so maybe it works?

Concert update

Energy Solutions Arena now has Coldplay on their event calendar for Saturday, November 22, 2008. They did not have when the tickets go on sale or the time of the concert. I will call tomorrow and hopefully find those things out and let you know.

More Coldplay

So, I have listened to the new album enough to tell you my favorite songs. There are only three that I'm lukewarm about: Lovers in Japan, Strawberry Swing, and Yes. My favorite, by far, is, of course, Viva la Vida. Next would be Lost and then a tie between 42 and Death and all his friends (a dj I listen to dissed Death and all his friends, but I really like it). Oh, make it a three way tie, I forgot to include Violet Hill, which sometimes, I like better than the other two in the tie. The Escapist and Life in Technicolor are very similar. I like them, but not as much as the others. So, I think I will really enjoy the concert when it comes to town, as I like so much of the album.

Also, I took the time to listen to some other stuff by Coldplay and discovered that there are actually several songs by them that I recognize and like. I already knew Speed of Sound and Clocks, but there's also Yellow. I could name other songs by them, but I can't associate them with the lyrics/music yet (cuz I mostly just listen to the new album).

Coldplay update

So, it's not for sure that Coldplay is coming November 22nd. They have that as the date on their revised tour schedule, but Energy Solutions Arena still does not have them on their calendar. I will let you know once I know when and how to get tickets and what day they are coming for sure. Unfortunately, people are bailing on me (why? I can't understand it, this new album is really good and Viva la Vida, the song, is phenomenal). I hope my roommate will still be able to go with me. I can just see the date being switched to a Sunday so no one around here will be willing to go.
Anyhow, if you find out news about the concert in Salt Lake before I do, feel free to post away.

Listen to the new Coldplay album!

Here's where you can go to listen to the new Coldplay album, Viva la Vida, for free! Tell me which are your favorite songs, or what you think of the album in general. And also, my chances of getting good tickets (and how much you think they'll cost).

Coldplay

Wow! I am so in love with Coldplay's new song "Viva la vida"! I could listen to it nonstop all day, every day. The song is constantly in my head, and I love that! The first couple of times I heard the song on the radio I thought, eh, it's ok. Then I saw the iTunes ad for the new album (called Viva la Vida) and I was totally caught up in it! I just think that this band is very creative. If my infatuation with this song ever dies down, I might actually try listening to more of their music (because right now, I could probably only name four or five songs by them). I've always liked their music but never been a huge fan or anything. But when I went to their website and saw that they are going to be touring the U.S. I looked for the closest city and saw Las Vegas (and in July, how horrible the heat would be then!) but when I actually clicked on it, it brought up Salt Lake City, the final day of their American tour, November 22nd (a Saturday, how convenient) and the tickets haven't gone on sale yet. Next obstacle, who would want to go with me and spend (we won't say how much, but yeah, more than the $8 I usually won't fork out to see a movie) precious dollars to go. Fortunately for me, my roommate Natalie fell in love with the song (well, enough to say, yeah, let's go and that's a good enough thing to save up for). All this and we have only heard two songs from their new album (which won't go on sale till after the tickets go on sale). In case you're wondering, the tickets go on sale on Saturday June 14th at 10:00 a.m. (is it faster to order online or to call? I don't want to miss out!). The album is released June 17th (can I really wait till November to find out what I'll be hearing? I think not!)

Now you know me, I'm not big into music. I like it, I listen to the radio, I own some cds, but I have never been to a concert (unless you count going to the jazz festival for free a few years ago and other free stuff like that. I don't count it). So, this will be my first concert.

Since I really can't talk enough about this topic, I thought you might be interested to know that Viva la Vida is currently the #1 song on iTunes, which means that I'm not the only one who loves this song. Oh, and Viva la Vida comes from the title of a painting by Frida Kahlo. Not one of her famous ones and not typical Frida, it's a still life painting of all things, and nothing that screams out pain and suffering (not to me, anyway) like what I think of when I think of Kahlo's paintings.

The most important links, of course, are to Coldplay's official website, a place where you can listen to the song for free, and the iTunes ad. (there are 9 videos there, click on one that says iTunes, um yeah, self-explanatory)

See, I can write about something besides genealogy and camping.

They're not as posed in this shot as in most other pictures I found of the group, but you see their faces more clearly this way. Isn't the short dark-haired guy cute? (yeah, um, I read the names of the band members, but the only one I can pick out is Chris Martin)

Genealogy and Camping

It's time to get back in the swing of things. I've kind of neglected my blog for the past couple of months, and a few other things as well. So this Sunday I am going to go do genealogy at the BYU library. If anyone wants to join me, you are welcome to come. Post here or call me and we can figure out a good time. I think Angela is planning on coming.

I'm going camping again (have I not told you about my trip to Arches and Canyonlands? I should). Anyway, this time I'm going camping in the mountains, exactly where is yet to be determined. But Dad is planning on coming with. We will go the 20th and 21st of June. It should be nice and hot in the valleys by then and the mountains will be a nice escape from the heat.
